The alpha release of Trente Cinq with Black Foundry introduces the
typeface as a family along a weight axis. The typeface originated as
a semester project at ECAL, during a collaboration with the
Cinématheque Suisse. The display typeface gets its character from
fluid, decorative shapes in key letters, while others carry a firmer
skeleton. A stylistic set leans further into that firmness. The
design draws from hand lettering on a 1940s French film poster—its
name a nod to the film’s 35 mm format.
